For many of us we’ll be looking to the Easter weekend as an excellent little break with the extra day off, but, of course, those of us with kids at home will know there’s also a whole two weeks of school holidays to follow too. In this final week before the schools break up for the midterm, we at Hog Roast Maidstone were helping out at one of our local schools as the staff wanted to treat the kids to a fun easter party accompanied by some of our foods.
We were contacted about this job by the headteacher a couple of weeks ago. She was wanting to do this fun easter surprise for the kids most of all, but also for her staff that have been working extremely hard of late and deserve their rewards in the form of a free lunch on her from Hog Roast Maidstone.
Our chefs were all too happy to do our part, so on the final day of term our team arrived in the morning and set up in the school’s kitchen where we got to work prepping all our foods for the big show. The kids were later brought down to their assembly hall near the end of the day where they played party games and sang songs before the easter bunny himself made a surprise appearance to hand out gifts of chocolate eggs. Around this time, our team also set out our small buffet for the kids and teachers. This was a mix of cut up sausages to go in rolls, our fresh pulled pork, fries, plenty of salad and small roast potatoes, our veg and halloumi skewers and grilled pepper and tomato kebabs, and some grilled chicken bites too. The kids were very patient in lining up to be given their plates of food with the help of the friendly Hog Roast Maidstone servers and their teachers.
It was an excellent way to send the kids off into the holiday term and give the teachers a much-deserved treat too!
