Enjoy Hog Roast Downswood’s Succulent Spit Roasts – Whatever The Weather

When it comes to hosting an event, we can plan ahead for fussy guests and make changes to the menu for those with allergies. We can include extra sides to the main meal to make sure that every guest goes home with a full belly, and we can even work around potential timing issues. But let’s face it, the one thing we can’t do is predict the weather.

Hog Roast DownswoodDespite this, here at Hog Roast Downswood, our life motto has always been that every day is a good day for a hog roast, meaning no matter what the weather has in store, you can rest assured that our dream team can promise you a fantastic group dining experience that you’ll be able to look back on with fond memories for years to come. Even when it’s cold and miserable out (i.e. standard British weather!), our sumptuous pork delicacies will be the comfort food you and your guests need to ensure your special occasion is a success story.

So, when a series of rain showers threatened to spoil Martin and Beth’s nuptials on Saturday afternoon, our catering manager, Chris, came through with his promise of delivering the ultimate wedding experience, and the pair couldn’t have been more pleased with the results.

Although they had originally planned on having an entirely open-air wedding reception, at the last minute, the couple conceded that the meal would likely have to be moved indoors to save the guests (and the food) from getting soggy. It was thanks to Hog Roast Downswood, however, that they were able to have the best of both worlds.

Following a short discussion with the bride and groom that morning, Chris had brought along one of our semi-closed marquees, which the team pitched outside the venue, and kitted out with dining furniture and serving tables, after which they whipped up a beautiful spread that comprised of pulled quarter of minted lamb, fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs and delicious BBQ pork butt. Completing the meal, Hog Roast Downswood also served a salad dish with Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, mac and cheese, corn on the cob and mixed fries.

Martin and Beth were so pleased with everything on the menu, and they were even more glad to have been able to enjoy the stunning views from the marquee!
