Hog Roast Chatham – Community Gathering at Christ Church with Starlings Support

At Hog Roast Chatham, we are always proud to be part of community events that bring people together, and on Friday 1st August 2025, Catering Manager Chris and his team had the pleasure of catering for a fantastic day at Christ Church, Luton Road, Chatham. The event was organised by Starlings Support, a wonderful resident-led project in the Luton Arches area. This gathering gave parents and children the chance to meet each other before heading off on their upcoming residential trip in August – and what better way to bond than over great food?

With 70 guests to serve, our Southern Slow Roast Menu was the perfect choice for the occasion. Guests tucked into three mouth-watering meats: juicy BBQ pork butt, tender Texan 24-hour beef brisket, and deliciously spiced Cajun whole roast chickens. Served alongside soft bread rolls and wraps, including wholemeal and gluten-free options, there was plenty for everyone to enjoy.

No Southern Slow Roast would be complete without our trio of signature sauces. The smokey sweet BBQ glaze went down a treat, the legendary hickory bourbon BBQ sauce was a crowd favourite, and the bold Cajun hot pepper sauce added a fiery kick for those brave enough to try it!

Of course, we also made sure vegetarians and vegans were well catered for. Our freshly prepared grilled vegetable skewers (with or without halloumi) served with wraps, tzatziki dip, and a sweet chilli sauce provided a colourful and flavoursome alternative that everyone could enjoy.

To accompany the mains, guests helped themselves to comforting mac & cheese, golden corn cobettes, and a mix of sweet potato and traditional fries – sides that proved just as popular with the children as with the adults. Everything was served on eco-friendly bamboo crockery with wooden cutlery, keeping the day relaxed yet sustainable.

Serving began at 12:30pm, perfectly timed for families to share lunch together before spending the rest of the afternoon socialising. It was heart-warming to see the local community connecting over food, laughter, and shared experiences.

At Hog Roast Chatham, we were delighted to support such a meaningful event, making sure everyone left full, happy, and excited for the adventures ahead.
