Hog Roast Detling: Sleeping Under The Stars Charity Fundraiser

Last Friday was an incredibly special day for our Hog Roast Detling catering team because not only did we get to serve up one of those lip-smacking feasts you keep hearing good things about, but it was all in aid of a great cause!

Hog Roast DetlingThe client, Paul from RTC Europe Ltd, had gotten in contact with us weeks in advance of the event which had been organised in support of Porchlight, the company’s chosen charity of the year. With corporate responsibility being one of RTC’s core values, the management team were keen to do their bit by raising awareness and vital funds for an ongoing struggle that many people are currently facing today: homelessness.

So, to make a statement and shed light on the issue that has been exacerbated by the current crisis, all 20 members of RTC’s management team pledged to sleep rough for one night with only cardboard shelters and sleeping bags to keep them warm. Providing the fundraisers with sustenance was, of course, Hog Roast Detling – and our bubbly team managed to keep everyone motivated by serving some gorgeous dishes from our southern slow roast menu.

This menu is ideal for all sorts of different events, and over the years it has become a firm favourite among our new and existing clients alike. So, between 5 and 8 pm, our catering crew served up some piping hot portions of  BBQ pork butt, Texan 24 hour beef brisket and fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs, with side options of Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, Greek salad, all-American-style creamy mac and cheese and corn on the cobb’s dripping with butter. All dishes were presented using our eco-friendly wooden bamboo crockery and cutlery option, and there were plenty of condiments and homemade dips, as well as fresh watermelon slices for the guests to pick at.

The fundraising team loved the spread that Hog Roast Detling had put on, and just as we had hoped, the food worked its magic by keeping everyone’s spirits up. So, how did they get on? Well, we’re happy to announce that RTC’s event was a whopping success, and their efforts resulted in them raising over £1,100 for Porchlight.
