With December slowly creeping in, the excitement for the festive season is beginning to gain momentum across the country as the countdown to Christmas officially commences. But even though some popular pre-Christmas traditions have been minimised or completely cancelled this year, as a result of lockdown, there is one communal activity that is still accessible. For most people, at least.
Outdoor markets are a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones, shop for unusual gifts that can’t be found anywhere else, and most importantly, (at least in our opinion, anyway!) indulge in some gorgeous street food! After all, isn’t the delicious grub what we all look forward to the most during the festive season? Well, we certainly think it is!
So, when Hog Roast Otham caught wind that an open-air market was hitting the local high-street, we could barely contain our eagerness to get involved. As the organiser of the event, Andrew was just as keen for us to be included in the entertainments, which took place last weekend.
Our team couldn’t wait to wow the attendees with a glorious, spit roasted hog, and with people expected to frequent the market all day long, the Hog Roast Otham team decided on our signature, classic hog roast menu.
Featuring an authentic slow-roasted pig with all the traditional trimmings you know and love, as well as gluten-free rolls and wraps, and a meat-free option that is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans, this is one of the most popular feasts we have on offer. The menu is known widely for being a real crowd-pleaser as it is ideal for events both large and small, and it acts as the perfect introduction to hog roasts for those who’ve never had the pleasure of trying one before.
While the weather was most definitely not on our side on Saturday, with torrential rain battering against the roof of the gazebo all morning long, the Hog Roast Otham catering crew powered through the dreaded winter weather and whipped up a stunning spread that everyone loved. Young and old, people formed a socially spaced queue to get their hands on a portion of mouth-watering pulled pork and crispy crackling which proved an instant hit!
