Our Alfresco Menu made a memorable statement at Julia and Samuel’s barn wedding on Saturday afternoon, where around 200 people came together to witness the happy couple exchange vows in a charming autumnal ceremony.
The venue they had chosen for the occasion was truly breath taking. Set amidst acres of rolling fields, the converted barn stood proudly overlooking the pastoral vistas. Inside, string lights and paper lanterns hung from every beam, round tables were draped with crisp tablecloths and topped off with faux leaf decorations, white pumpkins, and wedding favours in hessian bags. Rich orange tones, deep reds and warm browns were broken up with pops of cream, which added an air of elegance to the overall atmosphere.
Arriving hours in advance of the guests, Hog Roast Otham had set up their cooking equipment at the back of the barn, giving themselves plenty of time to whip up the charcuterie boards, main course and dessert options.
It didn’t feel like much time had passed before the wedding party began pouring into the venue, filling the entire space with excited chatter and enlivening the ambience. As everyone began taking their seats, our servers made their way around each table, where they set down a platter of Italian meats, cheeses, olives, sundried tomatoes and freshly-baked bread loaves for the guests to dig into before the main meal was complete.
The hog roast buffet that followed was an instant hit with the guests, who enjoyed mixing and matching the salad and potato side options with the slow-roasted, tender pork as a way of experimenting with unique flavour combinations. They seemed to especially enjoy our delicious crispy crackling and stuffing! After that, it was time for dessert, and the wedding party happily indulged in Hog Roast Otham’s homemade profiteroles and light and refreshing cheesecake.
For catering manager Chris, and the Hog Roast Otham team, who had dedicated months to helping the pair plan for their special day and hours prepping the menu on the day, seeing the look of happiness on everyone’s face when they were presented with the food was a hugely rewarding experience.
