If you love knocking back real ale, great grub and being surrounded by like-minded folks wearing traditional Bavarian dress, then you’ll love Oktoberfest!
Dating back more than two hundred years, this three-week-long German-born folk extravaganza is the largest and most-celebrated beer festival in the world. Each year, upwards of six million people descend on Munich, Germany, for the official Volksfest events, and many more celebrate the occasion on their own soil.
With that said, it probably won’t shock you to learn that, here in the UK, Oktoberfest has inspired thousands of events ranging in size and style, which has kept our Hog Roast Wateringbury caterers exceedingly busy.
From small family get-togethers to large organised events, our diary has been chock-full of Volkfest celebrations as of late. Don’t think we’re complaining, though. If there’s one thing we love here at Hog Roast Wateringbury, it’s being kept busy!
Kicking off the festivities a few weeks ago, our talented caterers loaned a helping hand to Ron, who had done a wonderful job of transforming his pub in the heart of Maidstone into the perfect place for celebrating Oktoberfest.
Giving his customers an authentic Oktoberfest experience, Ron decorated the bar with blue and white balloons, bunting and tablecloths. Plus he and his staff donned full Bavarian costumes for the event. The only thing he didn’t have a handle on was the food, which is where we came in!
Led by our catering manager, Chris, our Hog Roast Wateringbury crew worked hard to create a Classic Hog Roast feast in time for the guests’ arrival at 2 pm. As always, our team met the deadline with ease, and as the partyers arrived, ready to indulge in German beers and soft pretzels, Chris encouraged them to try something from our delicious spread.
Sure enough, the guests couldn’t resist the aromatic fragrances that drifted from the expertly cooked pork, savoury sage and onion stuffing, mixed fries, and the vegan-friendly BBQ pulled jackfruit. They also loved the presentation of Hog Roast Wateringbury’s bold and brightly coloured salads and gourmet coleslaw, which they all agreed complemented the main meal perfectly.
