Goodbyes are never easy – even if they are only temporary. So when Andrew announced that he was going to be taking a year out of his studies to fulfil his life-long dream of travelling South America, his family and friends were saddened by the news. But despite their reluctance to see him go, they collectively decided to give him a proper send-off by organising a leaving do at his favourite local pub.
As the news of the secret party made its way around Andrews wider friendship circle, his mum Madelaine soon found herself penning the 130th name onto the guest list. With so many mouths to feed, everyone agreed that it would be better to hand over the catering duties to a team of professionals, and at the recommendation of a close friend, Madelaine got in touch with Hog Roast Weavering.
From our range of comprehensive menu options, Madelaine selected our southern slow roast spread, which features a mouth-watering trio of succulent meats and delicious sides, along with grilled veggie skewers with flatbreads and tzatziki dip for vegetarian and vegan guests. The client was ecstatic to have Hog Roast Weavering taking care of everything, and as the day of Andrew’s flight neared, his loved ones worked together to keep the surprise send-off under wraps.
With the party scheduled to start at 6pm, Hog Roast Weavering arrived at the venue a handful of hours early which gave them plenty of time to cook up a buffet of BBQ pork butt, fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs and creole pulled quarter of spiced lamb along with sides of creamy mac and cheese, Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, leafy salads and golden fries smothered in melted cheese, jalapenos and pulled pork. Adding the finishing touches to the occasion, Madelaine had also arrived early to hang up balloons and handmade banners around the pub which read ”bon voyage, Andrew”.
Under the impression he was popping in for a few quiet drinks with a couple of friends, Andrew arrived at the pub just after 6. To his shock, he was instead greeted by cheers from all of his friends, family and the Hog Roast Weavering team!
Though bitter-sweet, everyone, especially Andrew, had a fantastic time – and the succulent buffet Hog Roast Weavering had prepared went down a storm.
