As a caterer we love love here at Hog Roast Wateringbury. We get to see it so often as part of our job. Be it weddings, anniversaries, even birthdays and general family and friend celebrations.
So, then, when we were contacted about a vow renewal being held here in Wateringbury, we were overjoyed to be included in the day. What a privilege it is to witness a wedding; it might even be more so to later bear witness to a re-upping of all those vows and commitments made on the wedding day. Lots can happen in a relationship after the beginning of your marriage, so to see two people that even many years later are so committed to their love that they want to re-make that commitment again and share the celebration with everyone is just wonderful. The Hog Roast Wateringbury team simply could not say no to the invite.
So here the event was this past weekend. An extremely hot day with all kinds of warnings around the country and restrictions placed in certain areas to help keep the situation manageable. Well at Hog Roast Wateringbury we want the opposite direction by upping the heat some more with our sizzling southern slow roast for this vow renewal celebration. A barbecuing style favoured in the hot American south, we figured there had to be something to the heat present in this dining style in what is typically a hot climate. Like when they say you should actually have a hot tea when it is warm to cool you down. Whether that is true or not, our sizzling southern slow roast was still an almighty hit for the vow renewals. If the heat in our Cajun spiced chicken was too much, then the tangy barbecue of our pork butt might have been a welcome alternative, or the cooling of our minted lamb, our creamy mac and cheese, seasonal leafy greens, and the comfort of our regular and sweet potato fries.
Even with the heat, the Hog Roast Wateringbury did an admirable job keeping everyone cool and comfortable. Our thanks to everyone in attendance for being so gracious with our team throughout, even with the heat, and for making us feel included in such a special and loving event!
